Wagan 2477 4 in 1 Brite Nite Camping Lantern Review

Wagan 2477 4 in 1 Brite Nite Camping Lantern
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The lantern's LED's give a decent light...considering the 3 AA battery and small (unit) diameter limitations. But for some reason, this decent illumination doesn't carry-over into the flashlight. The flashlight is Ok for close-up work, but greater than 5 feet, the illumination drops-off considerably. [Follow-up: By the way, if you don't mind a hook in the middle of your living room ceiling, this is an excellent lantern--for the price--to hang from your ceiling during power emergencies. It casts an even glow downward and throughout the room, and it's lite enough to prevent most hooks from pulling out of the ceiling (those that aren't especially anchored that is). The only liteweight, low cost, mini size lantern that I've found that is brighter is the 70 Lumens Rayovac that Amazon sells. But to get the full effect of 70 lumens, you have to remove the diffuser on that Rayovac one, and hang it upside down--with the provided hook on the bottom--to get a decidely brighter light. Having that bare, undiffused light IS a little 'harsh' to look at on the Rayovac 70 Lumens lantern, but if you're not going to be starring at it, you do get greater light output for about $5.00 more on the Rayovac. But then, you don't get a built-in flashlight like on the Wagan (being reviewed here), which as I said above, is mediocre at best. [ Later follow-up: I bought another one, but I am sending it back. The switch that changes from the lantern to the flashlight only worked intermittently.]

Wagner 194LL Miniature Bulb Review

Wagner 194LL Miniature Bulb
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Got two boxes of these to do all my 2002 Ford Crown Vic Police Interceptor P71 instrument (dash) lights at the same time. It's ten in a box, great price, fast shipping (and good support) from non-Amazon vendor, Wagner bulbs. NOTE! Someone told me there were twenty bulbs, but it turned out to be sixteen AND there are ALSO about five or six smaller bulbs in the back of the panel, get them too, it's a 2 hour job you won't want to do twice.
Here's how to do them:
How to replace the instrument (dsh) bulbs on a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria (P71) Police Interceptor.
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Okay, step one, before I go any further, I only have 16 of the 194LL blulbs (not 20, as you may be heard elsewhere). There are also five, or so, other, smaller bulbs for the warning lights, but my helper (a neighbor who used to work on cars) said let them be! I would have replaced them if I'd know ahead of time. Do them all at once, you won't want to spend your Sunday doing this any more than you have to!
These steps are the way I'd do it now (if I had to do it again), having done it this one time. The "clips" that hold the trim pieces on are "spring clips" and come loose easy enough and can be used again to reassemble the pieces to the car. The clips that hold the dash piece onto the dash just beloe the radio are a little different, long and flat, and were harder to get out (I was trying to be careful, getting nowhere, but then my neighbor, the car guy, just pulled the thing straight out!). Careful if you pry on the other attahed car trim that you don't permamently dent it.
This is an easy job, although it takes a while, at least for me. Note to self, don't park the car in the "shade" in the morning, becasue the sun moves and it was hot as all get as the sun moved and I got ready to wrap it back up.
I had planned to take step by step pictures as I went along, but forgot, sorry about that!
1) Take a round shaft, or other smooth surface insturment, and getly pry the long trim piece off the dash, starting from the door end. It should pop up and hang on the trunk and defroster switch wiring. The trunk plug on mine had to have the clips held "open" on "both" sides of the plug to unplug it from the switch. Most of the other plugs you have to push the clips troward the plugs only on one side to remove them. Then unplug the defroster switch and set the part aside.
2) Go to the driver's side and pry the dash trip piece up, Mine had a "dummy" plug stuck into a "blind" hole in the trim piece. This "extra" plug can get you to wondering if it was supposed to be plugged in somewhere, unless you're paying attention (especially, if your "helper" is saying, "got everything plugged up?" during the operation!).
3) Put your special Ford radio remover clips into the radio and pull it out from the dash (it helps to put a little pressure on the clips torwards the outside of the radio when you're taking it out. Remove the radio wiring plug, and then turn the radi oand the antennat plug is easily removed.
4) Tilt the steering wheel up for easy access to remove the plastic trim piece that goes from the parking brake replease handle to the other side of the steering wheel. Remove the two bolts on the bottom corners of the trim piece, one of them is up inside the parking break handle and also holds the handle on. Pop the plastic out of the top of the panel and set aside.
5) Underneath the last piece is a heavy duty piece of metal trim (I think designed to protect your kneew in a crash) that has to be removed. This piece has different screws, but comes apart easily. Once you get this off, look up on the right (passenger's side) of the steering column and you will see the little white (on my car) assembly that holds the shift needle pointer cable/adjuster mechanism. Unscrew the attachment screw and set it aside in a safe place. This was the only screw that mysteriously disappeared for a time and, belive me, there's not another one in the "screw box!" Put the gearshift in neutral (you have to turn the key "on," and you may want to block the wheels, just in case) and gently take the shifter cable loop off of the column shifter attachment pin. Let the cable hang over to the driver's side of the steering wheel.
6) Tilt the stering wheel down. Unscrew the bolts that hold the instrument panel/radio/ac/ duct dash trim piece. Don't forget the two bolts that go up over the instrument panel itself. Pop the top of the trim piece out and disconnect the headlight and instrument panel dimming switches on the driver's end of the panel.
7) Unscrew the bolts that hold the instrument panel to the dash. My shift indicator adjstment cable was routed behind the the wire harness, so I gently brought the cable and the attachment mechanism to the "interior" side of the car (away from the firewall) so that it will slide smoothly past the steering column and tilt mechanism when you slip the instrument panel assembly out. I had previously remove my tilt lever (thanks, car guy neighbor), but I don't think you have to do this. If you do have to remove the tilt lever, be aware that it has a little flat spot on the shaft for a narrow wrench and that it is glued in there and may be hard to remove. Tilt the top of the instrument panel towards the front of the car (firewall) and unplug the plugs on the bottom corners, one on each side. Remove the instrument panel, you may be to push the rubber trim aside.
8) Replace ALL the bulbs.
9) Install the Instrument panel into the dash. Make sure the little shift cable lever is properly installed in it's little notch in the panel. Reattach the shifter cable and braket assembly. Move the shift lever down so that there is plenty of slack in the cable to put the loop over the attachment pin. At this point I took a minute to accurately adjust my shift cable indicator while I had the thing apart (not sure it needed it, but what the heck, right, why leave well enough alone?).
10) Replace the rest of the parts. PS: some folks suggest that you test that everything is plugged in before you button it all up, but what fun is that!? :)

I really like this small led flashlight. It feels good in ones hand and is easier to turn on than most led lights. I have several different led lights and I like this one the best. The only down side is that it won't stay on by itself.

These are fine for RV reading lights, with a pleasingly neutral white. But they put out noticeably less light than the just as neutrally white zipLEDs from prudentrver.com that use only 2.88 watts (vs. the claimed 5 watts here). I am suspicious that I was shipped the 3 watt versions instead.

SureFire Z2L-BK Z2 CombatLight LED 80 Lumens Review

SureFire Z2L-BK Z2 CombatLight LED 80 Lumens
Average Reviews:

This is my second SureFire flashlight and I will not depend on anything else. They are a little pricey for what I'm used to, but I work in a nightclub in Las Vegas and tried many other cheaper brands that were just cheap and didn't last long. This surefire is plenty bright and very rugged. It has outlasted other workers cheap flashlights and outshined theirs from day 1. If you need a high quality bright flashlight that has a pretty long runtime for one set of batteries, then I highly recommend this light!!!

I purchased this replacement unit after burning out several bulbs in my 2007 FJ Cruiser. Unit was a little tight to install, but no real problems other than you have to be careful about putting it in correctly. It is a diode and therefore polarity and unit orientation is critical to operation.

These bulbs were bought to replace the stock interior dome bulbs for my 2008 Toyota Tundra CrewMax.
They are a lot brighter than the stock bulbs and work very well.
The only problems I encountered was it was a little difficult to remove the stock bulbs. But a pair of needel nose pliers with a little tape wrapped around the ends sticky side out solved the porblem.
I would recomend them to anyone.

This is one of those hand-crank gadget that simply doesn't work. Instruction says crank for 3 min to get 60 mins of flashlight and 10 min of radio. yeah, right. I got maybe 10 seconds of flashlight and 2 seconds of radio. OK, instructions says you must charge this thing first. Well, WHERE IS THE CHARGER? Am I supposed to crank this forever? There is an AC input -- but NO a/c charger included! You are supposed to use a < 5V,

Terralux (TLXTLF3002AABK) 300 Lumen LightStar300 Flashlight with High/Low - Titanium Gray
Average Reviews:

Having owned the 3 watt 80 lumen one for a number of years I must say this is a much needed updated version! While as ususal I believe their measurements are off, the still have produced a fantastic little light! on low mode it more than enough light for general tasks and holy cow! on high its more than enough to permanently ruin your night vision! It sports better battery life, a more natural white light rather than your standard wash everything out for the sake of brightness white/blue deal, and still utilizes the standard 2AA battery! CHA_CHING!
While nothing is perfect ,like the fact you can no longer adjust the focus, its ugly, it cant be taken apart, and it has opted for a click styled switch verses a twist. IT IS worth every penny. Its simple and functional. It doest advertise a ton of complicated features that need to be reached with combination turns and clicks, It doesnt use an expensive hard to find battery.
Hopefully on the next edition we see
accurate measurement of lumens on high and low
a crenellated strike bezel
twist style cap, (I actually switched the end caps on my lights and now my lightstar has a momentary strobe, although it flashes between high and low every flash, it works well enough to signal at night or temporarily visually disable someone)
And a better design cause this thing is not easy on the eyes...
oh! and a better handle design! as is its to smooth but luckily it comes with a wriststrap so its cool for now.
In short...the orginal 80 loumen rayovac light case, with strike bezel, and lightstar 300 insides and a bulb that actually gave off 100/300 lumens...the perfect flashlight.

PIAA Super LED Wedge Bulbs - White Twin Pack Review

PIAA Super LED Wedge Bulbs - White Twin Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought a twin pack of these to replace my license plate light and interior trunk lights on a Honda S2000. The color is better than the stock incandescent bulbs however they produce less light. The worst part is that these are VERY directional with their pattern. Each wedge consists of two LEDs and they shine straight down. Therefore my license plate has a bright stripe down the center as opposed to the wider, more consistant pattern emitted by the incandescents.
DO NOT buy these if you're hoping for a brighter light as I did.

Grossly misrepresented junk. this product, although not represented as such, is an inferior light source and does not come close to even the weakest of incandescent light bulbs. NOTHING in the add suggested this would not meet minimum light requirements. I sent a complaint to both the vendor and to Amazon and did not receive any response. not only is this vendor not to be trusted, neither is Amazon as I addressed them directly and they ignored me.

E-Z Red Company FL1701 Pocket Flip Light Review

This is a very handy light to have when I am on the jobsite. It's small size conceals the HUGE amount of light that it throws off. I have used many other lights before finding this one. Now, this is the only light I use.
It takes about 2 hours to recharge from a depleted state. Once fully charged, it will give bright, consistent light for well over 7 hours.
This light is a little on the expensive side, but I feel that it is well worth the money. In my line of work, you can never have "too much light".

StarLight REVOLUTION200 Revolution 200 Lumens LED Bulb Review

StarLight REVOLUTION200 Revolution 200 Lumens LED Bulb
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought two of these lamps for my RV, but on receipt tried them only briefly to make sure that they worked, which they did. However, after a month or so, when I left on a road trip and actually began using the lamps, one of them began cycling off and on after about 15 minutes. It seemed to be a heat-related failure. (The other lamp worked well and I am happy with it.) On returning from the trip, I emailed the manufacturer, who agreed that the lamp in question was defective, and advised me to return it to Amazon for a replacement -- that Amazon would honor the manufacturer's warranty. So I did that, including a printout of the order and a handwritten note indicating that I wanted a replacement. But, for whatever reason, the handwritten note failed to communicate my intention, because Amazon emailed me to the effect that they would credit me with a percentage of the purchase price of the lamp under their returns policy, and I have not been able to discover a way to contact Amazon to get them to send me a replacement instead. I consider this an "unsatisfactory purchasing experience."

Super Bright White 1157 LED 12V Automotive Bulb Review

Super Bright White 1157 LED 12V Automotive Bulb
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was looking forward to upgrading my Triumph Motorcycle's tail/brake light with these white LED units. For starters, shipping seemed a little high for two bulbs ($10.00) to Portland OR, but I figured the bulbs would be worth it.
Once they arrived, I removed the lens and replaced one of the two brakelight bulbs with the LED. Upon lighting, the original bulb, on the bike since 2002(!),
was easily twice as bright - naturally putting the lens back on did not change the comparison. The original bulb, without the lens in place, was painful to look at directly, while I could probably stare at the LED bulb all day.
A great way to waste $24.00. Even better, I would only recoup about $7 if I bothered to return them. Save your time and money. I think I'll just stick with OEM.
