(More customer reviews)I bought this for a 1999 Mustang Convertible, V6 model, because the original 3rd brake light was sun damaged, and scratched from a previous owner who tried to make it clear again. Redlines LED 3rd Brake Light was not perfectly flat. It had a slight bend, down, on both ends. In the middle it rose up a bit more than the sheet metal on the trunk lid. I was able to install the light, being careful not to put too much tension on the nuts. The ends of the light that were bent down, started digging into the metal, so the nuts had to be backed off a bit.
After installing Redlines 3rd Brake Light, the LED lights would not stay on when the brake was applied. If I jiggled the wire, where it is connected to the OEM light bulb socket, then the lights would light up again. The LED lights have four plugs, each one plugs into your stock light bulb socket. The part that plugs into the light bulb socket is fashioned like the end of those mini Christmas lights, except a little bigger. The bare wire comes out the end and is folded over the plastic. The problem was that the bare wire was not long enough, I stripped the sheathing another eighth of an inch, inserted the plug into the socket and it worked perfect.
The Redline 3rd Brake Light looks spectacular, brilliant red LED lights that look awesome. The car now looks better than showroom condition. I ended up really liking this product.
