I bought this strip to use as lighting effects for a few bands I play in. I paid for overnight shipping in my excitement and it has been well worth it so far. Another reason I was turned on too this particular RGB LED Strip setup was the individually addressable LED capability. Since the strip operates @ 5v, I have been experimenting with creating my own Atmel based Controller so I can real-time animation control and create my own color animations not generated by the included controller. The included controller does do a lot of different animations and effects, but for my needs a synchronized application is desired and very possible with the 5v IC logic.
My only negative comment is one of the LED red elements burned out after only a few hours of use, and that's not constant use. The ICs drive the LEDs so there is no effect on the rest of the LEDs in the strip (which is great), but it does stand out like a sore thumb when the lights surrounding it are lit using Red.
