GTMax Rapid Car Charger w/ IC Chip + Home Travel Charger + USB Data Cable for Garmin Review
Average Reviews:
(More customer reviews)My dog bit through my Garmin Nuvi 260W car charger cable while bored in the car the first time I used it. It was a major bummer and I was looking for a low cost alternative to buying the cord from Garmin, which was costing something like $28 (I paid $100 for the the now discontinued GPS, so it seemed a bit much). Anyway, the price for this set of chargers and USB cable seemed worth it to give it a try. The vendor promptly sent the item and I received it in something like 3 days. The packaging marks the items as for cell phones, but the plugs match the Garmin Nuvi so I gave it a try. The car charger doesn't exactly work. When connected, it repeatedly tries to download maps (which is impossible for it to do since it's not plugged into anything except electricity). It pretty much makes trying to use the GPS while plugged in completely useless. I then tried turning the power off so it would just recharge the GPS. It works for a few minutes, then suddenly powers back up again and tries to download maps over and over. I cannot emphasize how annoying that is. In an emergency, I might be able to eke out a bit more juice to keep the GPS running, but what a pain. Then I tried the wall charger. I had more luck with that. Again, while the power was on, the GPS kept trying to download maps, but when I turned the power off, it started recharging and, thankfully, didn't randomly turn itself back on to do the evil map download. I haven't tried the USB cable, because I really had no use for it so far. At least the wall charger seems to be working.
