(More customer reviews)If you are crazy enough to spend near $100 like I did purchasing this Piaa 19520 Hyper Tera Evolution LED for your beloved car, please save yourself the disappointment and embarrassment this product brings.
Let me start by pointing out that I have had great experience for the past decade using various Piaa wedge bulbs including models 19172, 19283, and 19263. All have done their job as expected and lasted more than 2 years. However, this time I bought a new sports car with those really bright purple-colored HID xenon headlight and wanted to have matching color wedge bulbs that are also brighter than regular wedge bulbs (like those newer Audi front LED panels). So I purchased this 19520 twin pack directly from [...]. Each bulb is made up of 3 LED diodes, and covered by a very cheap toy-like plastic lens cover. When closely examining the bulbs, one quickly finds the quality of the material all over to be extremely low grade. At any rate, after reading the manual (and who actually read this stuff anyway?), I installed the bulbs wearing gloves and had minimum contact with the bulbs during installation. Tried out the new bulbs in the dark, they produced extremely bright and wide spread angle lighting at true 6000k color temperature. That is actually a purple color rather than blue or super white. It is probably borderline street legal depending on the cop's mood. All is good and I liked these bulbs very much even though I soon discovered that 6000k is actually more purplish than most HID xenon colors. Those are actually closer to 5500k in case you want to know.
4 months went by, one night I parked and got out of the car and noticed one of the LED bulb started flashing on and off, showing signs of life decay. I couldn't believe it. A pair of wedge bulbs that cost $100 lasted only 4 month? I thought it could be a socket connection problem so I switched the two bulbs and polarity, tried everything I could and no luck, it's dying.
I wrote to Piaa customer service, explained the situation above. They never responded. End of story.
Staring at the manual that came with my bulbs, the front page prints in large font by Piaa: Pride and Confidence in People and Products. Do you believe in either after reading my story?
