This is simply the best 2D-Cell flashlight I have ever seen. It is more robust that the Mag-Lite, and offers many features not available at all, let alone in one single light.
The body of the flashlight is MUCH heavier gauge than the Mag-Lite. It's hard to envision a scenario in which the body of this flashlight could be dented or damaged. The rubber grip is non-slip, there is a rubber ring that offers protection to the lens and better purchase when twisting to focus the beam, a similar ring that cushions the end-cap from shock and eliminates scratches and nicks in the finish. Both rings have flats that allow the flashlight to lie on a slope without rolling. The lens is thick polycarbonate (I've broken lenses on lesser flashlights) and the xenon bulb is superior to other types (and there IS a spare in the end-cap).
The little details tell you that these designers understand flashlights. The end-cap has the most substantial lanyard ring I have ever seen on a flashlight. The O-rings are oversized. The threading between the end-cap and the body of the flashlight is much deeper (due to the thicker gauge of the body and the cap; this threading almost CAN'T strip) than on similar flashlights. More turns to secure the endcap may seem tedious, but it ensures a better fit, more pressure on the O-rings (enhancing the seal against water ingress) and greater strength.
I would give this flashlight a 6 star rating if there was one. Worth every penny at TWICE the price, a complete STEAL at the Amazon price.
