(More customer reviews)This light provides a very bright beam for a very long time on a single set of D batteries. It's very durable, and the rubber trim helps to reduce dings when dropped onto surrounding surfaces. The anti-roll shape is also quite handy.
The LED is specified as either 1 watt or 3 watts, depending on which web site you read (the package doesn't tell you). Whichever it is - 1, 2, or 3 watts - it seems to draw a miniscule amount of battery power, and possibly less than competitive brands which typically "boast" 4 watts. The reflector is pretty well designed.
The only weakness is that the twist-to-focus head has a weak o-ring seal that might become damaged, leaving it susceptible if you plan to dunk it into water. If you pester the mfr. rep. enough, you might get a new seal (or buy one for $ 1 at your local hardware). However, like most users, I simply set the focus the first time and didn't change it after that.
I've purchased several of these and given them as gifts with good responses from the recipients. There's supposed to be a lifetime warranty, although it's a bit difficult to get hold of the manufacturer (remember that this is a "Snap-On" brand name that has no relationship to the "Snap-0n" tool manufacturer).
My recommendation is to buy the flashlight, noting that it's offered in black on some web sites. I'm planning to order another ten or more to stock for future gifts. You can buy them from [...] in bulk... they can give you a quantity quote. The price has gone up several dollars in the past year, which might be an indication of growing popularity. For the life of me, I don't understand why the Ace Hardware Stores only offered it for a one-time buy three or four years ago... It's far better than any of the Snap-On lights that they carry today.
